    What are the benefits of turmeric?
    It has a warm, bitter taste and is frequently used to flavor or color curry powders, mustards, butters, and cheeses. But the root of turmeric is also used widely to make medicine. It contains a yellow-colored chemical called curcumin, which is often used to color foods and cosmetics.

    In my previous articles I’ve been vocal about ‘antioxidant’ compounds found in particular herbs like ginger,garlic etc. but this chart below proves them differently!

    Curcumin has played vital role as anti-cancer effects. Several laboratory studies proved to kill cancer cells and prevent more from growing. Obviously it has the common effects on breast cancer, bowel cancer, stomach cancer and skin cancer cells. Notably curcumin  has strong antibacterial properties and the ability to block formation and halt activation of cancer-causing substances. It can certainly enhance DNA repair, slow down cell reproduction, Turmeric and Oregano, induces apoptosis. Unbelievably curcumin is standing tall against rheumatoid arthritis, even more effective than an anti-inflammatory drug doctors can prescribe!

    Curcumin sincerely prevents clogged arteries. The compound that gives curry spice powder its yellowish color may protect arteries from fatty buildup, new research in mice shows. In one study, researchers at the University of Toronto found that curcumin blocks a wide range of biochemical reactions involved in cardiac hypertrophy (enlargement of the heart chambers), inflammation, and fibrosis. Although this spice has anti-inflammatory properties, it also can magnify the effect of these anti-clotting medications. Prothrombin time is a measure of how long it takes blood to clot. Curcumin may can reverse heart disease processes and  beneficially curcumin maintains functionality of the heart against disease, which in turn improving the function of the endothelium, that lining along the blood vessels.
